Christmas 2020 Mental Health Moment
This is your Professional Sista, Marsha C Mclean with a Christmas 2020 ~ Mental Health Moment!
This Christmas Holiday, I challenge you to focus on family and community. I want you to zone in on the things that you can improve on for Christmas 2020. Really focus on showing appreciation this Christmas. YES, I know COVID-19 has really affected your plans, but that does not mean you cannot make adjustments. You just need to pivot some ideas around. Make a big deal out of bonding and showing affection to your loved ones. I give you permission to be free this Christmas to be Happy, okay!?
Christmas is supposed to be the most exciting time of the year! So, remember that when you are deciding who to spend time with during this holiday.
These are ways to keep up the positivity during this Christmas season:
Exercise – One of the best ways to combat depression is with physical activity. Aerobic exercise increases the heart rate and releases endorphins in the brain, which leads to increased feelings of well-being.
Focus on making pleasant memories – Even if Christmas reminds you of an uncomfortable past, you can take steps to create pleasant memories for the future. Begin a new tradition that is unique for you and your immediate family. Whatever you choose, let it require minimum preparation and maximum enjoyment.
Perform acts of service for others – Realize you are not the only one struggling during the holidays. There are many who are sad, depressed, and lonely. Be willing to simply listen and offer words of encouragement to someone.
Please try to implement these suggestions into your Christmas planning.
Merry Christmas from your professional Sista, Marsha!
